While I was thinking about which movie to watch next on the various OTT platforms, I stumbled upon DOTS. Featuring ten artists in India and Singapore from six film industries, this is the first feature film to have produced and premiered within the lockdown period.
Written and directed by Shilpa Krishnan Shukla, it is about five couples who meet on an app called DOTS that connects strangers for a one-time two hour "virtual date". The 104-minute film is just conversations, but it touches on so many emotions - heartbreak, loneliness, loss, death, fear. Ten strangers, five conversations, and innumerable stories of love, loss, fear, loneliness, death... DOTS touches on so many aspects.
The conversations are in primarily in English with some parts in Hindi and Malayalam. But the language is immaterial, because there is nothing that you cannot connect with.
Kudos to Shilpa Krishnan Shukla for conceptualising this movie and congrats to her team for making this happen. Full marks to the actors for doing a wonderful job. Ahaana Krishnan as Karuna, Sai Pogaru as Aditya, Aparna Pradeep as Rohini, Saran Jith as Charuvikraman, Aishwarya Kumar as Nivedita, Lalit Prabhakar as Shakti, Parna Pethe as Saira, Raaghav Ranganathan as Vaibhav, Shishir Sharma as Roy and Suman Nagarkar as Yamuna, take you into their lives and before you know who become engrossed and involved.
Watch the movie on YouTube.
